Gunner Shepardson (born March 18, 2007), known professionally as Nettspend, is an American rapper and songwriter from Richmond, Virginia, who rose to prominence after a snippet of his track “Drankdrankdrank” went viral on Twitter in late 2023. Influenced by trap and jerk subgenres, Nettspend’s sound is characterized by distorted 808s, loose piano riffs, and shimmering synths. He began rapping in fifth grade and started releasing music on SoundCloud in December 2022. His breakout continued in 2023 with the critically acclaimed single “Shine N Peace,” followed by high-profile collaborations like “40” with Evilgiane and Xaviersobased, which was named one of the best songs of 2024 by The New York Times and Pitchfork. In March 2024, Nettspend made his festival debut at Rolling Loud, and later that year dropped his debut mixtape, Bad Ass Fcking Kid*, on December 6, supported by a promotional tour that featured a guest appearance by PinkPantheress. Despite temporary removals of his popular songs from streaming platforms, he maintained momentum with high-energy singles like “F*ck Swag” and collaborations with artists like OsamaSon and Tommy Richman. Known for his rebellious attitude and raw sound, Nettspend announced his Invert tour in February 2025, sponsored by Vans and running from March to April, solidifying his presence as one of the most dynamic voices in the next wave of internet-driven hip hop.
