About "2 Chainz"

Biography

Tauheed K. Epps, professionally known as 2 Chainz (formerly Tity Boi), is an American rapper and actor born on September 12, 1977, in College Park, Georgia. He began his music career as one-half of the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, alongside longtime friend Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers. The group gained attention with their 2007 breakout single “Duffle Bag Boy” featuring Lil Wayne, under Ludacris’ Disturbing tha Peace label. After two albums with Playaz Circle, Epps launched his solo career, signing with Def Jam Recordings in 2012. That same year, he appeared on Kanye West’s hit “Mercy” and followed with successful singles like “No Lie” featuring Drake and “Birthday Song” with Kanye West, both of which went double platinum. His debut solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and he continued his momentum with albums like B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time (2013), ColleGrove (2016), Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017), Rap or Go to the League (2019), So Help Me God! (2020), and Dope Don’t Sell Itself (2022). In 2023, he collaborated again with Lil Wayne for Welcome 2 Collegrove, and by 2024, he departed from Def Jam. Known for his witty punchlines and Southern charisma, 2 Chainz has earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for his feature on Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem,” along with numerous BET and BET Hip Hop Award nominations. Outside of music, he hosted the Vice TV series Most Expensivest, which explored extravagant lifestyle products across four seasons. With a legacy rooted in reinvention, entrepreneurship, and lyrical flair, 2 Chainz remains a respected and enduring figure in hip-hop culture.
