Biography

Blackbriar is a Dutch alternative metal band hailing from Assen, known for blending dark romanticism, gothic imagery, and symphonic metal into a unique and atmospheric sound. Fronted by vocalist Zora Cock, whose haunting voice has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Amy Lee, the band has released two full-length albums, four EPs, six singles, twelve official music videos, a lyric video, and several acoustic live performances. Their debut album, The Cause of Shipwreck (2021), received widespread praise for its distinctive style and sonic depth, with outlets like Metal Hammer Germany and Tuonela Magazine highlighting the band’s ability to merge orchestral arrangements with gothic storytelling. In 2019, Blackbriar gained wider exposure as the official support act for Epica’s Design Your Universe 10th Anniversary Tour and performed the aftershow for Halestorm and In This Moment at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. They signed with prominent metal label Nuclear Blast in November 2022, marking a new chapter in their career. In 2023, the band also collaborated on the music video for Dianne van Giersbergen’s debut solo single, “After the Storm.
