By age 17, Grey had already earned production credits with both indie and major-label acts, including contributions to 88GLAM’s JUNO-nominated New Mania. His official debut came in 2018 with The Beginning, a self-produced EP recorded entirely in his home studio. The standout track, “Unusual,” featuring guitarist Oscar Rangel, showcased his ability to merge intimate lyricism with lush, filmic soundscapes.
In 2020, he released Falling Apart, a deeper dive into his emotional palette. Its lead single, “Reasons,” expanded his audience and set the stage for a breakthrough moment—his 2021 performance for the Recording Academy’s Grammy Press Play series. His live rendition of “Seamless” blended R&B, rock, and classical music, earning praise for its artistic ambition and sonic depth.
Grey continued evolving with the 2022 EP Together, but Barely, highlighted by “Dancing On The Edge,” a duet with fellow artist Allegra Jordyn—his romantic and creative partner. Their chemistry gave the project a uniquely heartfelt tone and marked a milestone in his growth as an artist.
In October 2023, Grey signed to Rebellion Records, founded by PLVTINUM, opening the door to a broader audience and new creative collaborations. Earlier that year, he released Shadows, a three-part project—Chapter I: Desire, Chapter II: Fallen, Chapter III: Always—supported by FACTOR and the Government of Canada. The trilogy explored deeper emotional terrain, with standout tracks like “Run,” “Different,” and fan-favorite “Make Up.”
Grey’s collaboration with PLVTINUM and Dutch Melrose on “Jennifer’s Body,” followed by a joint tour, catapulted him further into the spotlight. But it was the 2024 release of Let The World Burn that became a defining moment. The song earned over 33 million YouTube lyric video views, 11 million for the official video featuring Nevada, and amassed 116 million Spotify streams—establishing it as a major hit.
On October 18, 2024, Grey released his debut album, THE CASTLE NEVER FALLS, a 14-track opus that blends moody, atmospheric production with raw emotion. With tracks like “Make The Angels Cry,” “Cold Blooded,” “Always Been You,” and new highlights such as “The Castle,” “Gemini,” and “Guarded,” the album cements Grey’s place as a powerful voice in modern R&B.
Grey cites The Weeknd, Drake, and Chase Atlantic as key influences, drawn to their blend of vulnerability and sonic innovation. He also credits producers like Illangelo and OZGO for inspiring his emotionally charged production style—particularly Illangelo’s work on House of Balloons.
A multi-disciplinary artist, Chris Grey also directs all of his own music videos, using his skills in photography and cinematography to craft visuals that mirror the haunting, immersive atmosphere of his music. His work continues to push the boundaries of alt-R&B, making him one of the genre’s most compelling and cinematic voices.
