David Anthony Burke, born March 28, 2005, professionally known as d4vd (pronounced DAY-vid), is an American singer, songwriter, and content creator. Rising from humble beginnings as a gamer creating Fortnite montages on YouTube, Burke was first introduced to music production by his mother, who encouraged him to make his own tracks to avoid copyright strikes. What began as a practical solution soon transformed into a thriving musical career.
Burke initially released songs like “You and I” and “Take Me To the Sun” on SoundCloud, laying the groundwork for his breakthrough. His 2022 single “Romantic Homicide” went viral on TikTok, landing at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Alternative Songs chart and attracting attention from major labels. That same year, Burke officially signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records. His follow-up single, “Here with Me,” also surged in popularity, entering the Billboard Hot 100 and charting internationally, including a top 10 placement in Singapore. Notably, many of these early songs were produced using BandLab, a freemium digital audio workstation.
In 2023, Burke solidified his place in the music scene with two critically acclaimed extended plays: Petals to Thorns and its continuation, The Lost Petals. Petals to Thorns, released on May 26, 2023, charted in five regions and showcased his emotive, genre-blending style. That year, he was featured on Holly Humberstone’s single “Superbloodmoon,” selected for Spotify’s Pop Rising On Tour, and opened for SZA on her SOS tour.
Burke maintained his momentum in 2024 with a stream of impactful releases. In February, he dropped the double single Withering, featuring “Leave Her” and “2016.” He also joined gaming brand 100 Thieves as a content creator. March saw the release of “Feel It,” a single from Amazon Prime’s Invincible soundtrack, which became his third track to enter the Billboard Hot 100. He followed up with “There Goes My Baby” in July, “Where’d It Go Wrong?” in December, and contributed “Remember Me” to the Arcane Season 2 soundtrack.
In 2025, Burke’s artistic evolution culminated in the release of his debut album, Withered, which dropped on April 25, 2025. Leading up to the album, he released a trio of singles: “One More Dance” (February 7), “Crashing” featuring Kali Uchis (February 28), and “What Are You Waiting For” (March 28). The album received international attention, including a showcase at the SM Mall of Asia in the Philippines. He made his Coachella debut in 2025, a memorable performance marked by a failed backflip attempt that went viral.
Burke’s Withered Tour is slated to run from August through November 2025, further solidifying his growing influence in both the music and digital culture spaces. Through his emotive storytelling, viral appeal, and genre-fluid sound, d4vd has quickly become one of the most compelling new voices in alternative pop.
