Damiano David (born 8 January 1999 in Rome, Italy) is an Italian singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Måneskin. Raised in Rome by flight attendant parents, Damiano was exposed to travel and different cultures from a young age, which shaped his bold personality and artistic vision. He met guitarist Thomas Raggi, bassist Victoria De Angelis and drummer Ethan Torchio while still in school, and together they formed Måneskin in 2016.
The band first gained national attention on the Italian talent show X Factor in 2017, where their energetic performances and Damiano’s striking androgynous style drew widespread notice. Måneskin released their debut album Il ballo della vita in 2018 and quickly became one of Italy’s most popular new acts. Their international breakthrough came with the single “Zitti e buoni,” which won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, bringing Damiano and the group global fame. Since then, Måneskin have toured worldwide and released albums such as Teatro d’ira: Vol. I (2021) and Rush! (2023), blending rock, glam, and punk influences.
Damiano is celebrated not only for his powerful, raspy vocals but also for his charismatic stage presence, gender-fluid fashion sense, and outspoken advocacy of artistic freedom. His bold image has helped spearhead a revival of rock music among younger audiences internationally.
