Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., professionally known as DDG, is an American rapper, singer, and YouTuber born on October 10, 1997, in Pontiac, Michigan. He began his career on YouTube in 2014 before transitioning into music, influenced early on by his father’s work as an audio engineer. After briefly attending Central Michigan University, DDG dropped out to pursue entertainment full-time. His early songs, like “Balenciagas,” and viral hits, such as “Lettuce,” gained massive online attention, leading to a deal with Epic Records in 2018 and the co-founding of his label, Zooted Music. He achieved mainstream success with “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” which went double platinum and charted on the Billboard Hot 100. DDG has since released multiple projects, including the mixtape Die 4 Respect and the album It’s Not Me It’s You, featuring artists like Gunna, Polo G, and NLE Choppa. In 2021, he made his boxing debut, defeating Nate Wyatt, and became the first rapper to shoot a music video using NASA’s zero-gravity training. Named to Forbes’ 2023 30 Under 30 list, DDG’s personal life includes the tragic loss of his brother in 2014, past relationships with Rubi Rose and Halle Bailey—with whom he shares a son—and a restraining order filed against him by Bailey in 2025 following allegations of abuse.
