Jason McDowell, professionally known as DJ Mac, is a prominent Jamaican music producer, engineer, and DJ based in Kingston. Emerging from the vibrant dancehall scene, DJ Mac has swiftly established himself as a leading figure in the industry. His journey began as a disc jockey, performing at renowned events such as Sandz and Pan Di Plaza. In 2019, he transitioned into music production, founding his label, Mac Production, and quickly gained recognition for his innovative sound and production skills.
DJ Mac’s production prowess is evident in his collaborations with top-tier artists. He co-produced Jahshii’s “Born Fighter,” which garnered over 23 million views on YouTube and significantly boosted his profile. Other notable tracks include Chronic Law’s “Still a Bleed,” Rytikal’s “Chosen,” Jahshii’s “25/8,” and Squash’s “Rate Who Rate You.” His work on the “Chakka Riddim” and “Fiesta Riddim” has also been widely acclaimed.
In April 2025, DJ Mac released his debut EP, Ups & Down, featuring collaborations with artists like Shenseea, Valiant, and Chronic Law. The EP’s lead single, “V.I.P,” recorded in Miami with Supa Dups, exemplifies his growth and ambition in the music industry.
