Jennie Kim (Korean: 김제니; born January 16, 1996), known mononymously as Jennie, is a South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter, and actress who rose to international fame as a member of the girl group BLACKPINK. After spending part of her childhood in New Zealand, she returned to South Korea and joined YG Entertainment in 2010, where she trained for six years before debuting in 2016. Jennie launched her solo career in 2018 with the chart-topping single “SOLO,” becoming the first Korean female soloist to reach over a billion views on YouTube. In 2023, she made her acting debut in HBO’s The Idol and released the global hits “You & Me” and “One of the Girls” before founding her own label, Odd Atelier. In 2024, she signed with Columbia Records and released her debut studio album, Ruby, in 2025, which sold over a million copies and became the highest-charting Korean solo album on the UK Albums Chart, producing hits like “Mantra” and “Like Jennie.” Jennie is a celebrated fashion icon, known as the “Human Chanel,” and has earned multiple awards, including MAMA, Golden Disc, and Billboard Women in Music honors, becoming the first Korean soloist to win at the latter.
