About "Jonas Brothers"

Biography

The Jonas Brothers are an American pop rock band formed in 2005, consisting of brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas. Raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, they moved to Little Falls the same year, where they began writing and recording music. Their journey began with the song “Please Be Mine,” which caught the attention of Columbia Records president Steve Greenberg, leading to their first record deal. Originally considering the name “Sons of Jonas,” they ultimately adopted the name Jonas Brothers. The band toured extensively in 2005 and 2006, opening for acts like Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCartney, and the Cheetah Girls. Their debut album, It’s About Time, was released in 2006, featuring contributions from high-profile writers and covers of UK band Busted’s hits “Year 3000” and “What I Go to School For.” Their single “Mandy” and songs like “Time for Me to Fly” began gaining traction on TV networks like MTV, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. Their big break came after signing with Hollywood Records and gaining popularity through Disney Channel, starring in the Camp Rock movies and their own series Jonas, later rebranded as Jonas L.A. The group released a string of successful albums: Jonas Brothers (2007), A Little Bit Longer (2008), and Lines, Vines, and Trying Times (2009), selling over 17 million albums worldwide by 2013. They were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 Grammys and won Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. After a hiatus from 2010 to 2011 to pursue solo projects, the band reunited in 2012 but ultimately disbanded in 2013. Their comeback in 2019 with the hit single “Sucker,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marked a new era. Their fifth album, Happiness Begins, topped the Billboard 200, and their sixth album, The Album, released in 2023 and produced by Jon Bellion, included the singles “Waffle House” and “Wings.” The Jonas Brothers have evolved from teen Disney stars into seasoned musicians with a dedicated fan base and a legacy that spans over two decades.
