About "Larry June"

Biography

Larry Eugene Hendricks III, known professionally as Larry June, is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and independent music icon born on April 8, 1991, in San Francisco, California. Renowned for his laid-back flow, health-conscious lifestyle, and consistent output, Larry June has carved a unique lane in modern hip-hop, blending West Coast vibes with hustler wisdom and soulful production.

Larry’s journey into music began as a teenager on MySpace, where he connected with fellow Bay Area artist G-Eazy in 2006. By 2008, he was exploring beats from producers like Cardo on YouTube—both of whom he would collaborate with in his later career. He released his debut album, Cali Grown, in 2010, setting the tone for his underground rise.

In 2014, Larry June gained industry attention with his Route 80 mixtape, produced by TM88 and featured on Complex. This buzz led to a deal with Warner Records, where he was given a $20,000 advance to produce two EPs. However, feeling unsupported by the label, June stepped away from recording for two years, choosing instead to tour with artists like Post Malone and Smokepurpp.

Returning stronger in 2016, he independently dropped several projects, including Sock It to Me, and later You’re Doing Good, Sock It to Me, Pt. 2, and Very Peaceful. June left Warner, turned to DistroKid for independent distribution, and began seeing greater financial returns from his music. He also teamed up with Cookin’ Soul for the projects Larry and Orange Season, the latter accompanied by an iOS game inspired by retro 8-bit graphics. That same year, he toured with Cousin Stizz and appeared on tracks with Post Malone, Asher Roth, and Michael Christmas.

In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Larry recorded prolifically from his home studio, releasing six projects, including Adjust to the Game, Cruise USA, Numbers, and Keep Going. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, he also launched Honeybear Boba, a boba tea shop in San Francisco.

June’s 2021 album, Orange Print, distributed through Empire, marked a new chapter in his career—highlighting his full artistic identity and transition from independent grind to mainstream recognition. He followed up with critically acclaimed albums Spaceships on the Blade (2022) and The Great Escape (2023), solidifying his reputation as a consistent and influential voice in rap.

With 19 underground projects under his belt, Larry June remains an independent force in the hip-hop world—touring with acts like Curren$y and Berner and maintaining full creative control over his brand. While open to a major label deal in the future, he continues to move at his own pace, embodying the motto that’s become synonymous with his name: Good job, Larry!
