Biography
Oliver Anthony, born on June 30, 1992, in Farmville, Virginia, is a singer-songwriter who rose to prominence for his raw and relatable country-folk music. He adopted his stage name in honor of his grandfather, Oliver Anthony, paying homage to the grit and soul of 1930s Appalachia. In 2010, at the age of 17, he dropped out of high school but later earned his GED in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. His early adult life was shaped by hands-on labor, working various industrial and paper mill jobs throughout Western North Carolina. In 2013, he suffered a serious skull fracture from a work-related accident, which forced him to return home and reevaluate his path. This turning point in his life later fed into the emotional depth and authenticity of his songwriting.
