SEVENTEEN is a thirteen-member South Korean boy band formed by Pledis Entertainment, known globally for their powerful performances and hands-on artistry. The group consists of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Before debuting, they were introduced to fans through the online series Seventeen TV and the reality show Seventeen Project: Big Debut Plan. They officially debuted on May 26, 2015, with a live MBC showcase—becoming the first male K-pop group to do so on a major network—and released their first EP, 17 Carat, which became the longest-charting K-pop album in the U.S. that year and made it onto Billboard’s “10 Best K-pop Albums of 2015.” Known as a “self-producing” idol group, SEVENTEEN is actively involved in songwriting, production, and choreography, and they perform as one group while also operating through three specialized sub-units: hip-hop, vocal, and performance. Dubbed “Performance Kings” and a “K-pop Performance Powerhouse,” they’ve gained widespread recognition for their precision and creativity. Their 2023 EPs FML and Seventeenth Heaven set historical sales records, with FML becoming the year’s best-selling album globally and earning their first MAMA Album of the Year award, cementing SEVENTEEN’s legacy as one of the most influential acts in K-pop.
