About "Sia"

Biography

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, born 18 December 1975, is an Australian singer, songwriter, and director known for her powerful voice, emotional depth, and artistic reinvention. She began her music career in the mid-1990s with the Adelaide-based acid jazz band Crisp before releasing her debut solo album, OnlySee, in 1997. After moving to London, she gained recognition as a vocalist for Zero 7 and released her own critically noted albums Healing Is Difficult (2001) and Colour the Small One (2004). Following a relocation to New York City, she expanded her audience with Some People Have Real Problems (2008) and We Are Born (2010) before retreating from fame to become a hit songwriter, penning chart-toppers like “Titanium” (with David Guetta), “Diamonds” (for Rihanna), and “Pretty Hurts” (for Beyoncé). Her return to the spotlight came with 1000 Forms of Fear (2014), which topped the U.S. Billboard 200 and featured the global hit “Chandelier.” Known for performing with her face obscured by wigs to maintain privacy, she followed with the successful album This Is Acting (2016), her Christmas album Everyday Is Christmas (2017), the collaborative project LSD (2019), and her film debut Music (2021). In May 2024, she released her tenth album, Reasonable Woman. A passionate animal rights advocate, Sia has earned multiple ARIA Awards, nine Grammy nominations, and an MTV Video Music Award, solidifying her as one of the most distinctive and influential voices in contemporary music.
