Tito Double P, born Jesús Roberto Laija García on August 18, 1997, in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, is a prominent figure in the contemporary regional Mexican music scene. Raised in Culiacán, Sinaloa, he is notably the cousin of acclaimed artist Peso Pluma. Tito’s musical journey began in 2021 when he started sharing videos of himself performing corridos on social media platforms. These early performances caught the attention of his cousin, Peso Pluma, who was also embarking on a musical career at the time.
Recognizing Tito’s talent, Peso Pluma invited him to collaborate, leading to Tito’s deeper involvement in the music industry. In 2023, encouraged by Peso Pluma and other musicians, Tito Double P launched his solo career. He released his debut single, “Dembow Bélico,” on June 3, 2023, featuring collaborations with Luis R. Conriquez and Joel de la P. That same year, he contributed to two tracks on Peso Pluma’s third studio album, Génesis: “Gavilán II” and “La People.” These collaborations helped establish his presence in the regional Mexican music scene.
Tito’s breakthrough came in 2024 with the release of “La People II,” a collaboration with Peso Pluma and Joel de la P, which debuted and peaked at number 69 on the US Billboard Hot 100. This achievement marked his first entry into the Hot 100 chart. On August 22, 2024, he released his debut studio album, Incómodo, which debuted at number 20 on the US Billboard 200. The album also reached number two on both the US Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts, eventually climbing to the top position on both charts in its fifth week.
Beyond his solo work, Tito Double P has collaborated with various artists, contributing to tracks like “Belanova” with Peso Pluma, “5-7” with Junior H, and “Ay Mamá” with Grupo Frontera. His song “Rosones” gained significant popularity, amassing over 23.4 million streams in a single week. In early 2025, he embarked on the ¡Ay Mamá! Tour, bringing his blend of regional Mexican, contemporary, and rap music to audiences across different venues.
Tito Double P’s rise in the music industry highlights his versatility and ability to resonate with a broad audience.
