Jenn Champion explains the shared past behind Carissa's Wierd's new single
I Don't Feel Like I Feel Right looks at a relationship across changing lives, Jenn Champion says. The song is available ahead of Somewhere Further Than Far Away.
Carissa's Wierd's I Don't Feel Like I Feel Right comes with a specific explanation from Jenn Champion: the song reckons with a relationship's past and present, and the sense that it can feel destined to continue despite what happens along the way.
In an artist statement published by FLOOD on October 9, Champion connects that idea to the many lives she and Mat have lived together. Her explanation gives listeners a starting point for the song's emotional subject without requiring a line-by-line interpretation of its words. It is Champion's account of the song, rather than a claim about every listener's reading.
A song and video that look back
FLOOD describes the accompanying video as a collection of touring footage from the band's original run. That retrospective format sits alongside Champion's explanation of looking at a shared history from the present. The official music video on the Carissa's Wierd channel is available to watch.
Where to hear it before the album
The recording is available on the band's song page. Its album listing for Somewhere Further Than Far Away places it eighth in the track list and gives January 8, 2027 as the scheduled release date. The listing credits Carissa's Wierd under exclusive license to Nettwerk Music Group Inc.
That future album date is separate from the single and video's current availability. The album page's September publication metadata should not be read as a release date for this individual song.
