Latto, born Alyssa Michelle Stephens on December 22, 1998, in Columbus, Ohio, was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She began rapping at the age of 10 and participated in drag racing before pursuing music. At 16, she gained national attention by winning the first season of Jermaine Dupri’s reality series The Rap Game in 2016, where she was known as Miss Mulatto. Despite winning, she declined the offered record deal, opting to remain independent.

Latto’s breakout moment came with the release of her 2019 single “Bitch from da Souf,” which was certified double platinum and marked her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut studio album, Queen of Da Souf (2020), featured the platinum-certified single “Muwop” with Gucci Mane. In 2021, she rebranded to Latto and released the hit single “Big Energy,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy nomi
