Miley Cyrus

Miley Ray Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 is an American singer, songwriter, and actress, widely regarded as a pop icon known for her vocal versatility, artistic reinventions, and dynamic presence in both music and entertainment. A daughter of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, she has transitioned from child stardom to becoming one of the most influential figures in modern pop culture. Cyrus rose to fame as a teen idol starring as the lead in the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana (2006–2011). Originally auditioning for the role of the best friend, her comedic talent and vocal ability landed her the title role, despite early rejection for being “too small and too young.” The show became an instant sensation, and the accompanying soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 chart, selling over three million copies worldwide. As Hannah Montana, she became the first Walt Disney Company artist with simultaneous deals in television, film, music, and consumer products. Cyrus launched her solo music career with the pop-rock albums Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) and Breakout (2008), both debuting at number one in the U.S. Her hit single “Party in the U.S.A.” (2009) from the EP The Time of Our Lives became one of the best-selling singles of all time and is certified 14× platinum in the U.S. She explored more mature themes with Can’t Be Tamed (2010), followed by a bold stylistic shift with Bangerz (2013), her fifth chart-topping album, which spawned the hits “We Can’t Stop” and the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single “Wrecking Ball.” Continuing to evolve, Cyrus embraced experimental sounds on Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), returned to her country-pop roots on Younger Now (2017), and dived into rock influences with Plastic Hearts (2020). Signing with Columbia Records in 2021, she released Endless Summer Vacation (2023), featuring the international chart-topper “Flowers,” which earned her two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year. Her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful (2025), is a visual album paired with a musical film, showcasing her continued innovation in storytelling and performance. As an actress, Cyrus has appeared in various films, including Bolt (2008), Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Last Song (2010), and So Undercover (2013). She also starred in the television miniseries Crisis in Six Scenes (2017), appeared in Netflix’s Black Mirror episode "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" (2019), and served as a coach on The Voice (2016–2017). From 2021 to 2022, she hosted the NBC special Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party. Cyrus's impact has been recognized with numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, five Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and eight Guinness World Records. She was named a Disney Legend and is ranked among Billboard's greatest artists of all time, including the ninth-greatest female Billboard 200 artist and one of the greatest pop stars of the 21st century. She is the eighth-highest-certified female digital singles artist by the RIAA. Beyond entertainment, Cyrus is a committed activist. In 2014, she founded the Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit supporting LGBTQ+ youth and combating homelessness. Her Backyard Sessions (2012–2023) served as a creative platform for intimate performances and advocacy. From Disney darling to genre-defying icon, Miley Cyrus continues to redefine fame, artistry, and self-expression with each chapter of her career.
