About Santan Dave

Santan Dave (real name David Orobosa Omoregie) is a British rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor, widely regarded as one of the most talented and socially conscious artists in UK music. He was born on June 5, 1998, in Streatham, South London, England, to Nigerian parents. Growing up in a challenging environment, Dave was exposed early to the realities of urban life, which later shaped his deeply reflective and politically aware lyrics.

Dave began playing piano at a young age and showed an early interest in storytelling through music. He gained attention in 2015 with the release of his freestyle “Black Box” and his single “JKYL+HYD”, which displayed his lyrical intelligence and emotional depth. His collaboration with Drake on the remix of “Wanna Know” in 2016 gave him international exposure. In 2017, he released his critically acclaimed EP Game Over, featuring the powerful single “Question Time”, which addressed British politics and social injustice.

Dave’s debut album, “Psychodrama” (2019), was a landmark in UK rap, combining introspective storytelling with themes of mental health, race, and identity. It won the Mercury Prize and the Brit Award for Album of the Year, establishing him as a leading voice in British hip-hop. His second album, “We’re All Alone in This Together” (2021), built on that success with hits like “Clash” (featuring Stormzy) and “Verdansk”, topping the UK Albums Chart and earning widespread acclaim for its honesty and maturity.

Beyond music, Dave is also known for acting — notably playing Modie in the popular Netflix series Top Boy (2019–2023). His artistry is marked by his thought-provoking lyrics, blending personal reflection with commentary on society, race, and politics. Dave has been praised for his storytelling ability, musical versatility, and piano-driven production style.

As of 2025, Santan Dave continues to be one of the most influential figures in British music, consistently using his platform to inspire conversation, empower young people, and redefine what it means to be a modern rapper in the UK.
