In the Rain

[Verse 1] Walk in the room, my high heels on, I strike a pose Young, dumb, and cute, nothing to lose And now the past is someone that I have to answer for I got a whole new point of view [Pre-Chorus] Misunderstood but I'm not gonna sweat it Isn't it all for the show? Keepin' a smile on my face for protection Turning my tears into gold [Chorus] So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) [Verse 2] Don't wanna be sad, God, it feels like a waste of time Maybe it's fake, but I don't care You don't deserve my heart and guess what? I don't owe it to you If you're offended, say a prayer (Prayer, prayer) [Pre-Chorus] Misunderstood but I'm not gonna sweat it Isn't it all for the show? (Mmh-mmh) Keepin' a smile on my face for protection Turning my tears into gold [Chorus] So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) [Post-Chorus] I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain [Chorus] So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) So I cry (Cry) Only in the rain (Only in the rain) [Post-Chorus] I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain I cry, I cry, only in the rain [Outro] Ah-ah (Ah-ah, ah, ah-ah) Ah-ah (Ah-ah, ah, ah-ah) (Ah-ah, ah, ah-ah) (Ah-ah, ah, ah-ah) (Ah-ah) SONG MEANING “In the Rain,” a pop song, is a reflective and emotional track that explores themes of heartbreak, vulnerability, and emotional cleansing. Through vivid imagery of being caught in the rain, Addison Rae uses the storm as a metaphor for sorrow and healing—walking through pain instead of running from it. The rain symbolizes both the tears she's cried and a form of renewal, as she confronts the aftermath of a broken relationship. Rather than portraying herself as defeated, the song carries a quiet strength, suggesting that facing emotional storms head-on is a step toward personal growth. It’s a standout moment on the Addison album for its raw honesty and moody, atmospheric production, revealing a more introspective side of Rae as both a singer and songwriter.
